The History of Collins Vacation Rentals

Back in July of 1973, Alice D. Collins Realty was founded here on St. George Island by Alice Collins. After specializing in the sales and rentals of recreational properties on SGI, the company joined forces with CENTURY 21 in 1922 to become CENTURY 21 Collins Realty Inc. before finally transforming into Collins Vacation Rentals Inc. in 1994.

President/Owner Alice Collins has guided the helm of Collins Vacation Rentals through many idyllic summers, hurricanes seasons (with major damage from Hurricanes Kate and Opal) and a devastating fire that destroyed the original building in the 1980s. Fortunately, all lives were spared and the structure was soon rebuilt - thanks to the compassion and community spirit of employees and islanders alike. Within two months, a new office building was constructed on the ruins of the old site. A "west wing" was added in the spring of 2004, increasing the office space to a 6,650 sq. ft. facility for CENTURY 21 Collins Realty, Inc. and Collins Vacation Rentals, Inc.

No matter what challenges come her way, president and owner Alice Collins has expertly guided the helm of Collins Vacation Rentals. Our Island

Over the years, our employees and our company continue to be active within the community. We aim to stay in touch with community leaders to help preserve the pristine area of St. George Island while allowing quality growth. You'll find our homes have scenic views because there are no high-rise condominiums on St. George Island, and the island has well-established low-density controls.

At Collins Vacation Rentals, we strive to accommodate the needs and desires of our island visitors. With over 250 privately owned rental homes, we are certain you will find a property perfect for your dream getaway! Whether you are looking for a luxurious seven bedroom beach house or an old-fashioned "Florida style" cottage, we have them all. Some of our homes even offer pools, tennis courts, and boat docking privileges! Plus, you won’t have to leave your four legged friend at home-- many of our properties are pet friendly. We also offer homes with ground level entrances and elevators for our guests with special needs.

HOUSEKEEPING

Our incredible housekeeping staff works diligently to create a clean and pleasant environment for you to enjoy on your vacation. Linens are provided at all properties including one bath set per person, one set of sheets per bed, dishcloths, and dish towels. If you would like more, just let us know and we can provide them at an additional fee! Beach towels are not provided, so make sure to bring your own if you’re planning on some fun in the sun. We take pride in our housekeeping. If you have concerns or feel your rental home has not been cleaned properly, please let us know when you arrive. MAINTENANCE

Great effort is made to ensure all appliances and equipment in your rental home are working properly. However, even the newest or best-maintained equipment occasionally malfunctions! Please don’t hesitate to call with any maintenance issues: our department takes pride in handling any maintenance problem to the best of our ability. If you experience a maintenance emergency after 5:00 pm, we have a staff member "on call" who can assist you.
