We really enjoyed staying at this property. It had a great location to the beach, nice kitchen, great dining table and comfortable living area. One major request would be that the owner unlock some cabinets in the kitchen area. If they would unlock one of the 2 pantry cabinets and one under the bar it would help. There was not much room for us to put our food up because of most of the unlocked cabinets were full. The house has room for our family of 8 to come (soon to be 9) and at a price we can pay. Please try to keep the price in this range. We have already booked for 2022 and would like to book further ahead if possible.

High Cotton
High Cotton is a lovely home that worked well for our family. However, it is in need of some tlc! Broken counters in kitchen, loose towel racks in some baths, wood floors are in need of maintenance and exterior of the house (including all exterior furniture ailings and decks) need paper by and stain. The kitchen oven was not repaired anytime during our stay, though we had been told it would be.

We have stayed at High Cotton many times. We really like the updates (new paint, furniture, linens, rooftop deck, balcony rails)

Vacation
We had a great time at High Cotton! We always do! One suggestion-The owner might need to invest in some new blinds inside. Some of them won't work right or are long enough for the window or patio door. They do not keep out the light good either. A couple of the blinds are broken also. Other than that, we always enjoy our stay at High Cotton!

The Best House! The Best Time!
High Cotton is the best house for our family’s annual vacation, especially, because it has an elevator!!! The wrap around balcony is another awesome feature. It allows us to sit outside and enjoy the views, even on very windy days! Adequate beds and bathrooms for our families! We very much appreciated the new, larger French door refrigerator/freezer with water/ice dispenser! Also, so glad that the oven was fixed!! We always have the best times and leave with lots of great memories! Thank you Collins Vacation Rentals!!!

We love this house have already rented it for next year. We have been going to SGI for 15 years and have stayed at many houses even on the Plantation but this is the first house that didn’t have a gate to keep pets or children from going down n the stairs on the deck that would be our only request, don’t know if that could be added but it would be helpful. .

Winter Family Trip
Our stay at High Cotton was very nice. Yes, it's an older home in need of updating but the owner is in the process of doing just that. There were several comments about the oven not working but we didn't have any problems. I even cooked a birthday cake that turned out just fine. The only problem we experienced was water that came in at the top of the french doors in the left downstairs bedroom during winter storm Izzy. Izzy was not your typical rain event. There were strong winds for quite a while and the rain was heavy. We had family ranging in age from 4 to 81 and everyone enjoyed our stay. The elevator made unloading and loading back up so much easier and it helped the older folks with bad knees tremendously. I love the beach in the winter and we enjoy attending the Oyster Festival Cook Off in Apalachicola. Delicious oysters and shrimp! We also visited Up the Creek and The Blue Parrot, and picked up oysters, shrimp, and crab legs during the storm from Paddy's. All were delicious and are highly recommended.

stove/oven needs to be replaced, oven would not maintain any temperature for more than 5 minutes and oven door does not close properly. When we stayed at High Cotton 2 years ago, we had to call maintenance to get the oven to work at all. The dishwasher does not clean dishes at all, we had to wash everything by hand. There are several things in the kitchen and in the half bath storage closet that need to be thrown away (broken mixers, broken toaster, ancient toaster oven, broken dishes, broken utensils, etc.) The new washing machine is good but the dryer is rusted and not vented well. Laundry room is filthy. Several things in the house haven’t been cleaned in years (wall decor, lamp shades, artificial plants, dried flower arrangements, etc.) On the plus side the new paint inside and out is great but they hung up the filthy wreaths and pictures on the new paint. Also on the plus side, the new bedspreads are great but the old ones are stuffed up on the closet shelves taking up room we needed for our month’s stay. We love High Cotton and have stayed there several times, but we spent the first day of our stay cleaning and moving things so we could have a functional kitchen and living space.

Both appliances are working properly. The high cotton met all our expectations. The elevator was a blessing since I had fractured my hip 6 weeks earlier. We will definitely stay there again!!

We had a great time at St George. We really love the Island. The house was a pleasant surprise with new couches, and paint. We had a small problem with elevator but maintenance was quick to repair. We will be returning next year.

Lovely home. Loved the layout! Plenty of bedrooms and baths for my family. Loved the porches and the area underneath the house including the swing. We were disappointed to find that the oven didn’t work when we got there. A few loose spindles on the third floor porch that need attention. Otherwise a beautiful house, fantastic location, so close to the beach. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying there and very thankful for the elevator.
