This house is basically very nice, but the property isn't being maintained by the owners. The house has a tired feel. The HVAC needs work because the temperatures were never balanced between the rooms. Some room would be comfortable which others would be hot or too cold. The range is in such poor condition that it is possibly a safety issue! the temp knobs are worn so much that you can't read the numbers and it is difficult to tell when the stove is in the off position. Several times the stove remained on when we thought they were turned off. The owners are not maintaining this property. I will never stay in this unit again unless the owners take care of these problems. Collins, on the other hand were great as always! They took care of all problems that they were able to address. Thanks Collins.

Great house! Great location! It was just steps to boardwalk to beach. Awesome jogging and walking trails! Great private pool! Nice and private! Loved each room having its own bathroom. Some of the appliances and furniture was dated… and outdoor landscape was lacking ..but very pleased with our stay!

We loved Amethyst…great location close to the boardwalk to the beach and great views. The house is a bit dated but worked for our family of 6 adults and 5 kids under the age of 9. Issues mentioned in earlier reviews have been addressed…..stove, ac, and large baking pan. It’s nice to know that the owners care enough to respond to reviews! We had a slow draining tub and Collins rentals sent someone out quickly to resolve the issue. There were a few things that we felt needed attention: vertical blinds on sliding doors in the front facing bedrooms are missing slats. We had to hang a beach towel to cover the doors for privacy. Garbage disposal in the kitchen didn’t drain completely. Towels in the bathrooms are worn and thin. Linens on the beds are worn and thin. We enjoyed our stay so much that we’ve reserved Amethyst for next year!!

Family Vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amethyst! The location was great for our family of 13. Several furnishings in the house could stand to be updated and new shower heads would be great. We had a couple of issues: one bathtub drained extremely slowly, a bed frame broke and the air conditioning went out one night; however, maintenance was very quick to respond and resolved our issues. We love St. George Island and plan to stay at the same house again next year.

Amethyst is obviously an older home which needs some remodeling. We found the house to be clean and the linens ready for use. The housekeeping and maintenance personnel were prompt and polite. We had to call because one of the bathrooms lacked a shower curtain, because the dishwasher would not clean even after being thoroughly rinsed by hand, because the WIFI was unbelievably slow. We would like to make the following suggestions: 1. Replace the dishwasher. We had to hand-wash the dishes throughout the week. 2. Replace the stove. It is dangerous. The dials were unreadable. The back left burner was difficult to control. We almost set the kitchen afire when we turned this burner off but it did not go off. The handle on the oven door came loose. 3. The house needs a roasting pan and a large cookie sheet. 4. The house is supposed the accommodate 14 people. There is seating for only 6 in the main living area. We had to pull chairs from the porch. 5. The WIFI is totally inadequate. The constant "buffering" certainly made watching the football games extremely frustrating. 6. The windows in the living area need blinds for privacy and for blocking the intense morning sun. We used beach towels draped over the lacy curtains.

Unfortunately we are a barrier island and are limited in our options when it comes to WIFI, we are also at the mercy of the internet provider when issues arise.
